Q: I want to talk to a live person! What are the Office Hours? A: Our municipal office is open Monday to Friday (except for holidays!), from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm
|
| |
Q: I have garbage!! How do I get rid of it? A: The Town of Kearney has 2 transfer stations. The "town" site transfer station is located at 149 King William Street and is open from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm (closed Wednesday and Thursday). The Sand Lake transfer station is located at 147 Kallio Road, and is open 2pm to 6 pm during the summer months, and until 5pm during winter months.
Transfer station cards are sent out to residents with their February tax bill, and replacement cards for those lost or misplaced can be purchased at the Town Office. Cards allow residents 5 bags of garbage per month (unlimited recyclable)
If you are not eligible for a transfer station card, or if you have additional garbage above the monthly limit, there is a $2 per bag fee.

Q: I have a complaint! How do I let staff and Council know? A: You can submit a communication form by email (hover over the documents and forms tag on the left hand side of this page), or you can pick up and submit a form at the Town Office.
|
| |
Q: Is there a Public Boat Ramp? A: Yes! Kearney boasts beautiful lakes and rivers, and you can access many of these lakes from a number of public boat ramps! One is located at the end of Regent Street in town, one is located on Hwy 518 at Beaver Lake, and another is located on Boat Ramp Road on Sand Lake. You can see more public access points on the Kearney Trails map from the Culture, Parks and Recreation page
|
| |
Q: Where can I hike/bike/ski ? A: Kearney has a number of public trails. Maps are available from the Culture, Parks and Recreation department page or from the Town Office. Please respect other users while out on the trail, follow the no littering rule, and be aware that wildlife may not expect to see you!!
|
| |
Q: I love the freedom of the countryside! Where can I let my dog go for a run? A: On your own property!! Dogs running at large are a danger to wildlife (who may not know that your dog "means no harm", and can injure themselves or endanger their babies because they don't know that "Fluffy" just wants to play!). Dogs may startle other trail users, or create issues with other dogs when left to run at large. Not only is running at large a violation of municipal by-laws, but the Ministry of Natural Resources does not allow dogs to run at large on Crown Lands as well.
